Spare A Thought

How would I cope if I had no home
And a doorway was where I lay
As people walked past ignoring me
Happily getting on with their day?

How would I cope with no food to eat
And not knowing where I could go
To find some warmth and a change of clothes
And some kindness I needed so?

How would I cope as the temperatures dropped
And my rain sodden clothes clung to me
As I remembered the happier days of my past
When I was warmed by a hot cup of tea?

I once had it all and in an instant it's gone
Not by a fault of my own
It's taken for granted by all of us
Spare a though for the man with no home
